The Non-extraction Therapy The non-extraction therapy utilizes a palatal bar, a clear upper removable appliance and a lower lip bumper in order to create spaces prior to the placement of braces.

Upper arch space gaining- most malocclusions have rotated upper molars, therefore occupying spaces that can be used to unravel the crowding. The palatal bar is used to de-rotate the upper molars and gain space in the upper arch. If more space is needed a clear removable appliance, in conjunction with a headgear, would be used to gain additional space by moving the teeth backward.

Lower arch space gaining- the lip bumper upright and de-rotate the lower molars. In addition, it eliminates muscular pressure on the teeth and allows for lateral dentoalveolar growth.
